bitch MATERial celebrates the woman as a creator. Women create (give life to) children, (and create) art, careers, and (make) changes. They are as multi-facetted as our exhibition. Both are about expansion in contrast to limitation. Our aim is to show works of artists who are also mothers. In order to enable an in-depth debate about this issue we would like to broaden the perspective: how do female artists define social role images, which horizons are opened up to us by men, and how much of a mother is there in a childless woman? This is about motherhood images that deviate from the norm and may also show men as mothers. Hot chicks. Working moms, ‘Muttertiere’ (Materfamilia). Works of art that reflect, question or negate the issue.
